Hey Dawg Fans!

We had a very successful weekend despite the rain and last-minute field change. We faced Ole Miss first and got out to a rough start but after we shook off all our dust we started working as a team and started to pull away from the rebels. The final score was 17-5.  Murphy and Lisa lead the scoring with 4 goals each. Fetus forced 3 turnover from the rebels which turned into goals! Michele M. had the team high of 6 ground balls. Overall great win! After the game the parents had an amazing spread of food for us to fuel up before we played Alabama. The Alabama game started off great and ended great. We really played together to finish the drill, the final score was 17-3. Murphy posted 4 goals again this game, Taylor and Bean had 3 a piece, Kaitlin and Lucie each had 2, Fetus, Wiggles, and Avatar each had one. Taylor and Callie dominated the draw and Kane had 7 saves. We are so happy to have finished our SWLL season with such a great record of 6-1, and we are 7-1 overall!

Next week is spring break! The team is traveling all over the place this year! Some girls are going to Colorado and some to Florida. A lot of the older girls are going on interviews for internships (GOOD LUCK!) and some are taking time to relax at home with family! We reconvene the week after preparing for our 3rd annual A-TOWN THROWDOWN TOURNAMENT! We will be hosting 9 teams which include the current  1, 2, 3, 5, 9, 11, 14 and 16th ranked teams in the WCLA!  We are excited to play some out of conference games and really show the WCLA what UGA lacrosse is all about!

MJ Is very passionate about many things like cupcakes, chips (kettle cooked preferably barbecue) and trees! She is known to identify trees and turf types while traveling with the team!

GO DAWGS!

Hey Dawg Fans!

The team is gearing up for midterms and spring break and happy to have had a great weekend in Florida despite losing our first game of the season.

We started out in Orlando against the #13 UCF Knights. The game was back and forth for a while in the first before UCF put up the first goal. The draws and 50/50 balls were back and forth the entire first half UCF went up 3-2 before UGA scored 4 to make it 6-3 at half time. And then the DAWGS got their second wind. The dawgs played the best most solid 2nd half I have EVER seen in lacrosse! The UCF coach even came up to our Coach Adam and said “You guys didn’t even drop one pass!” We only let in one goal in the second half and completely owned the draws, 50/50 balls, and offensive possessions. The game ended at 12-4. What a great way to start out the weekend!

On Saturday we played in Gainesville vs. the UF Gators. Unfortunately, the game did not start out the way we wanted. UF was dominating the draw and we could not seem to stop them. They continued to score and we could only put one in the back of the net in the first half to make the halftime score 7-1 gators. BUT, we are a team that is determined and NEVER gives up. It took almost 10 minutes of the first half of either team to get a goal but after we got our first one in they just started dropping. We were dominating the draw and our defense was ROCK SOLID. The Gators could not get anything going on offense before the D pressured and took the ball away. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to make up the goal deficit but we now know what we NEED to do when we see them in the SWLL championship tournament.

We are so proud of the team and know that in our last 2 SWLL games this weekend and in our upcoming A-town tournament and LU invitational we CAN beat anyone if we play like and team and trust each other!

OK…enough about the weekend and what y’all have been waiting for! Here are the clues for this weeks teammate!

Clue #1 This teammate is the only one on the team in a certain college on campus

Clue #2 She LOVES almost everything, especially trees

Clue #3 She is from Georgia

Get your guesses ready! I will announce the winner tomorrow morning!

GO DAWGS!
